WHAT ABOUT THE LICENSE?

bullet

The bride and groom must obtain their marriage license at least 3 days in advance from the County Auditor.

bullet

Click Here for a list of County Auditors in Washington.  Each county has different requirements and fees for obtaining the license.  That information can be found on the Auditor website, along with the licensing location.  The link above opens another window - then click on your county.

bullet

A license issued in your county of residence is valid for a wedding ceremony in another county in Washington.

bullet

A license issued in Washington State can only be used in Washington State.

bullet

The license needs to be presented to the Officiant prior to the ceremony.

bullet

After the ceremony, the Officiant has 30 days to deliver your Certificate of Marriage to the County Auditor.

bullet

Because I know you are excited to start your new lives together, I mail your Certificate of Marriage the next business day.

bullet

Allow a couple days for mail and processing, then you can contact your County Auditor to obtain official copies of your Certificate of Marriage.  You will need the official copies to change your name on your driver's license, Social Security, passport, banks, etc.
