Should I send a wedding invitation to the Officiant?

Although the Officiant will already be at the wedding, it is a nice gesture to send a formal invitation. If you plan to invite the spouse or partner of the Officiant, this is the best way to let them know the spouse or partner is welcome to attend.

Would the Officiant like to come to the wedding reception?

Ask the question and extend the offer.  Each Officiant is different may or may not attend the reception.

Generally, I do not attend the reception simply because the gathering is about you and your family and friends, and I believe you should spend your reception money on them.

How will the Officiant handle conflicts?

Ideally, this is your special day and squabbling family members should put aside their differences for a few hours and put you first.  However, we know this is not always the case.  Inform your Officiant of family conflicts due to divorces, remarriages, etc., so that your Officiant can help to make these situations easier to handle.

We would like to blend our two different religions.

Many Officiants are experienced at performing wedding ceremonies of different faiths.  Ask your Officiant at your initial meeting if she or he is knowledgeable and willing to perform a mixed faith ceremony incorporating your religions.

In some instances, you may wish to have a representative of one religion at your ceremony and an Officiant.

Am I required to tip the Officiant?

Tipping is always optional and always genuinely appreciated when received.  However, it is not expected, nor required.

The percentage of your tips do not change because of the cost of the service.  Somewhere between 10% and 20% is standard.

Will the Officiant allow flash photos during the ceremony?

Its your wedding ceremony, so if flash photography during the ceremony is ok with you, it should be ok with your Officiant.  However, just to be safe, you should discuss this with the Officiant.
